Rosie house is about to start progressing again

It rained.

Rosie sat.

Just like the Cat in the Hat “all we could do was to sit, sit, sit, sit and we did not like it not one little bit”.

Finally, it’s about to progress. Ironically right when we thought it was all shutting down for the Christmas holiday break.

Stone Mason

Yesterday hubby turned up on his way to work for the daily sticky beak. The stone mason was there measuring up. Wish I’d known as I’ve got very specific ideas about how I want the side retaining walls.

Landscaping it’s getting real now!

  • We want to have a set out near the lounge so I can plant into the top of the wall, with that wall parallel to the house to square it up.
  • We want some sort of step sections as seating to the front patio
  • We need to work out the driveway side next to the neighbour so it’s as far to the boundary as possible, looks nice but is practical.

Roof

Here’s the shocking unexpected news. The roofing company are keen to go but they have had trouble sourcing available roof tilers. Canberra Tradies are all booked.

They’re having to look interstate and bring some from Melbourne (which is 8hrs drive away).

The site supervisor was commenting how he really likes a tiled roof as a tin roof is increasingly popular here.

Here’s the extra shocking part

They must be hiring tilers who are looking to make extra money over the Christmas shutdown period because the roof is going up over Christmas to New Year. I’m very shocked as that’s typically ghost town here in Canberra and the only things running crazy are Boxing Day retail sales.

Lockup

  • Not sure when the cladding goes up, but that’s needed for lockup.
  • The door to the mudroom will give lockup at that point. Glad we insisted on an external grade door there now.
  • The glazing on the sliding doors remain off. The window company are closed until 14 January.
